The Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing
BSN class of 2023

OUR STORY
We are the most dedicated class The Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing has ever seen. We entered this cohort in Fall 2020 as the world was blind-sided by the effects of COVID-19 with an unyielding determination to make our mark on the world. The healthcare system was in a moment of crisis, yet we chose to face the chaos in our greater pursuit of helping others. This cohort of 67 courageous, empathetic individuals exemplifies what it means to be a nurse and a hero.
Although most nursing schools require the same prerequisites, our paths to nursing are as diverse as we are. Our cohort establishes a new face of nursing and with it a greater ability to serve the community of Los Angeles. Even so, this “new face” isn’t for lack of brains. We are considered the “cream of the crop” after being picked from thousands of other applicants taking the same science heavy load. That’s not to say that we haven’t struggled, but we find community in enduring school and the pandemic together.
The pandemic forced us online and to countless Zoom lectures; however, despite this obstacle, we were still able to connect and foster relationships with one another. Spring 2022 will be our first time meeting in-person all together. We can’t wait.
